(Inter)disciplines: Intersections & Encounters between Art and Design
nomad magazine
- — Vortrag / Talk / Konferenz
Prinzregentenstraße 1, 80538 München
Join luminaries Andrea Lissoni, Flaka Haliti, Marco Sammicheli, Martino Gamper, and Stefan Diez as they explore the intersection of art and design, guided by nomad correspondent Kimberly Bradley.
In this discussion, two renowned designers, two institutional directors, and an artist reflect on visions of the intersections of art and design. Moderated by nomad writer and art critic Kimberly Bradley, this intercultural, interdisciplinary discussion invites participants and listeners to consider potentials from multiple perspectives.
Inspired by, and in the context of, the long-running exhibition SITZUNG by designer Martino Gamper on view in the atrium of Haus der Kunst, this discussion aims to define, but also redefine, contemporary art and design and explore the historical perspectives and fluid barriers between the multiple facets of both disciplines. Participants will explore the fields’ theories and philosophies, and discuss strategies for showcasing interdisciplinarity in cultural institutions, and fostering cooperation between the fields.
The talk also delves into cross-institutional collaboration, potential synergies between western and nonwestern knowledge bases, and new challenges such as digital interdisciplinarity.
The event is realized by Haus der Kunst and nomad magazine. It is supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.
